Michigan Democrats Post Divergent Fundraising Numbers
The Michigan Senate primary produced three distinct fundraising profiles in the latest FEC reports. Abdul El-Sayed, a Democrat, raised $12.2 million in total receipts but has burned through most of it, reporting just $2.7 million cash on hand against $9.5 million in disbursements. Mallory McMorrow, also a Democrat, shows a similar pattern — $11.3 million raised, $9.2 million spent, leaving $2.2 million on hand. Democrat Haley Stevens raised somewhat less at $11.0 million but retained more of it, with $3.4 million in cash on hand after $7.5 million in spending. All three campaigns are spending aggressively relative to their intake, a sign of a competitive primary fight for the Michigan Senate race.
Ohio and Florida Senate Contenders Report Strong Cash Positions
Democrat Sherrod Brown leads all filers in both total receipts and cash on hand, reporting $38.6 million raised and $16.2 million still in the bank for the Ohio Senate race, after $22.3 million in disbursements. In Florida, Democrat Alex Vindman reported $14.6 million raised with $7.3 million on hand against $7.3 million spent — a comparatively efficient burn rate for the Florida Senate race. Both campaigns show substantially more cash reserves relative to receipts than their Michigan counterparts, suggesting different points in their spending cycles.
Republican Senate Filings in North Carolina and Nebraska
Two Republican Senate campaigns also filed notable reports. In the North Carolina Senate race, Michael Whatley raised $11.3 million and reported $3.5 million cash on hand after $7.8 million in disbursements. In Nebraska, Pete Ricketts reported $11.2 million raised, $6.9 million on hand, and $4.8 million spent for the Nebraska Senate race — a lower disbursement rate than most other filers in this batch, leaving Ricketts with one of the stronger cash positions relative to total receipts.

What to Watch
🗳 Voting this weekArizona primary — Tuesday, July 21 (TOMORROW)Arizona: Primary Set for July 21
Arizona holds its primary on July 21 for both governor and House seats. The Arizona governor's race carries a Likely D rating heading into that contest, which will shape the field for the general election.
Governor's Races to Watch
Beyond Arizona, the broader map of 2026 governor's races includes several contests rated more competitively. The Florida governor's race and the Nebraska governor's race are both rated Toss-up, making them the closest watched contests on the board. Iowa and New Mexico lean Democratic, Kansas leans Republican, and New Hampshire is rated Likely R, while Georgia, Michigan, and Minnesota are Likely D. None of these states has a primary scheduled in the coming week, but polling movement in the toss-up races will be worth tracking as Arizona's results provide the next concrete data point in the 2026 cycle.
